Pour One Out for Lemon Street

As a long-term foodie, I've had to become comfortable with goodbyes. The rooms I once dined and Yelped in are now full of empty chairs and empty tables.

Because of the trend of shutting doors, I have now created a place on my blog for those places we've said goodbye to. My RIP Restaurants page includes Moxie, Black Sheep, The Pier, Five Points Tavern, Sorrento, and more. And now Lemon Street Brewing Co. is added to the list.

Brewing From 2019-2013

One of the more recent victims of fate, inflation, and pandemic timing is Lemon Street Brewing Co. The brewery had a good run. Brief, but good. They poured from September 2019 to December 2023. I attended their Yelp event in January of 2020. It was right before I was pregnant, so I was able to safely sip the IPAs. It was a fabulous event, complete with excellent hops, trivia about beer, live music, nachos, and a tour of the brewing equipment.

Ric's Restaurant News

This past December, Ric Anderson from the Daily Record wrote about the closing. He spoke to the owner Joe Baez, who commented “If you like local breweries, support them,” [...] adding that without increased patronage, “I think you’re going to see a wave of closures.". You can read Ric's full story of the last pint at Lemon Street here.

This type of news makes me feel sad, undersaturated. I hope Bottlenose remains open. I am fairly certain Bold City is safe. As long as I have those, and maybe Veterans United too and Wicked Barley, I will be okay.

And now I'm thirsty.
